| AD Police | Genom |
| Boomers | Others |
As important as the four Knight Sabers are, there are a host of other important characters who populate the 8 episodes. Thier personalities range from self-sacrificing and kind to meglomanical and selfish. They work for the AD Police, are singers, or avenging angels. And without these "extras", Bubblegum Crisis would not be what it is. This page is devoted to them.

Mackie Stingray: Mackie is Syila's little brother, six years her junior. In most respects, he's a normal teenager, fascinated by vehicle and girls (including his older sister and the rest of the Knight Sabers). But he doesn't attend school, helps out the Knight Sabers, and is a mechanical genius who gets to play with mecha like motorslaves. So perhaps he's not so normal after all. But with all those beautiful women he gets to hang out with, perhaps that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Sylia, with her ceaseless work, has given Mackie a youth almost completely free from worry. He lives with her in the penthouse of the Lady633 building, works in her lingerie shop on occasion, and usually drives all the various Knight Saber vehicles. While he wants very much to avenge his father's death, he's not obsessed with Genom like his sister is. Mackie's only true obsessions are vehicles, an obsession that Dr. Raven has helped along by taking Mackie under his wing. But with a potential relationship between himself and Nene rearing its head at the end of Scoop Chase, he actually might end up taking some time away from Dr. Raven's shop.
Seiyuu: Sasaki Nozomu
Character Development
- In Tinsel City, Mackie is shown to be your normal, lecherous, healthy teenaged boy, but nothing else is known at this point.
- Mackie shows himself to be a lover of fine vehicles in Blow Up, specifically motorcycles, but also a valuable member of the Knight Sabers team. Without Mackie, someone would have to leave the transport vehicle unattended or stay with it, taking a combatant from where she would be most useful.
- Continuing the technology mode, Revenge Road has Mackie not only being a motorcycle enthusiast, but also skilled enough that he actually creats a bike that even Priss can't handle.
- By the end of Scoop Chase, Mackie has again proven his usefulness to the Knight Sabers by helping Nene defeat the computer Boomer and it may be that Mackie actually has some feeling for Nene as well.
Dr. "Pops" Raven: Dr. Raven was a very close friend of Dr. Stingray, and has looked out for Sylia and Mackie ever since his friend's murder. He is one of the few people who know all the Knight Sabers true identities, and he is trusted by all of them. As another brilliant mechanic and engineer, Dr. Raven has helped the Knight Sabers by helping them maintain and repair the hardsuits and the motorslaves. Dr. Raven is also a very good friend of both J.B. Gibson and Naomi Anderson, two of the main characters from Revenge Road.
He currently works out of Timex City, a part of MegaTokyo which lies completely within the giant fault chasm which opened with the Second Great Kanto Quake. His garage lies nestled between the various factories and is filled with the medals and awards his excellent work on vehicles has earned him. His shop also happens to contain one of the Knight Sabers' training facilities.
Seiyuu: Ogata Kenichi
Fargo: Fargo is an informant, plain and simple. His background is unknown, but his information includes data from the government, Genom, and the various criminal syndicates and underworlds, so he has a lot of connections. He has found the Knight Sabers a few Genom-related contracts, and Sylia trusts him to the point that he knows her true identity. He even has the audacity to ask Sylia into dangerous parts of MegaTokyo after dark for meetings, and is constantly pursuing her as a sexual conquest. Sylia, however, isn't having any, and makes this very obvious.
Seiyuu: Yamadera Kouichi

Leon McNichol: Inspector Leon McNichol is certainly one of the most important secondary characters in the series, and quite likely the most important. He is, at 26, the highest ranking field officer in the AD Police, and he is unusual because he actually volunteered for AD Police duty. Most Normal Police get transfered to the AD Police, although it's never stated whether this is because they are particularly good or bad. In Leon's case, though, he's actually that good. Unfortunately, he knows it and isn't afraid to let everyone else know it too. We're first introduced to Leon in Tinsel City, where Leon first gets a chance to meet Priss and she's actually forced to admit that he's not necessarily a rotton human being just because he's a cop. Where his and Priss' relationship was heading, we never found out, although there were some indications of a potential romance.
Leon, like much of the rest of the AD Police, is sympathetic toward the Knight Sabers. He knows that the AD Police is often outclassed by the combat Boomers which seem to be appearing on the streets of MegaTokyo a bit too regularly, and because of it he's quite willing to turn a blind eye to the team's mercenary habits. He has quite a bit of personal presence, and his nearly heroic actions have helped the AD Police's credibility in the eyes of the public. He is attractive and confident. So confident, in fact, that he often attacks opponents which are obviously way more than he can handle. Yet he somehow always seems to last until reinforcements arrive. And there have been a few occasions when he has become the Knight Sabers' reinforcements.
Leon's done his time in the N-Police and as a Frontline Officer (the ones who get shot at the most) in the AD Police, and because of it he always uses the most powerful weapon he has available at a given time. In Tinsel City, that gun was a 3-shot railgun, and in Blow Up, it was a 3-shot, .60 calibre revolover called the "Earth Shaker". Too bad Leon's target at that point was an armored BU-12B combat boomer. Leon never goes anywhere without his shades, and rarely shoots anything or anyone without having them on, unless they really need to be shot and he's in too much of a hurry. Leon is, after all, an equal opportunity AD cop - he doesn't discriminate against any Boomer.
The series A.D. Police Files, while produced after both Bubblegum Crisis and Bubblegum Crash, introduces Leon as a new recruit to the AD Police.
Seiyuu: Furukawa Toshio
Character Develpment
- Leon, as we see in Tinsel City, is not just a fan of good rock-n-roll, but he's also a very cool customer with excellent self-control, when he chooses to exercise it. He's also bordering on overconfident, especially when it comes to Priss. He also has a great sense of humor and timing.
- Leon shows that he has a rather nasty temper in Born to Kill. This episode also shows a mildly paranoid streak and a hatred of police corruption and internal politics.
- Along with everything else, Blow Up shows that Leon is an ethical police officer, not even close to a morning person, very patient when he needs to be, and that Leon is willing to turn a blind eye to certain excesses if it serves to put various people in thier place.
- Leon is not only hitting on Priss, but he also hits on other women too, although his come-on to Nene in Revenge Road is more of a joke than serious.
- Leon seems to be deep in thought, or perhaps a bit uncomfortable, in the morgue in Moonlight Rambler. Not only that, but in his interaction with Todo, he's as disrespectful as always, but his tune changes a little once Todo gives way some.
- Leon usually makes snide comments to people whenever he has the chance, but in Red Eye's he holds back once he sees Nene is actually crying about something. The biggest change is that Leon reveals that he not only knows Priss is a Knight Saber, but that he actually cares a lot about what happens to Priss, in an emotional, affectionate sense.
- In , Leon shows that he has balls of steel when he tries to bluff his way in to a Genom research facility. Leon also recognizes extenuating circumstances when he arrests Dr. McLaren instead of Kou and Reika.
Daley Wong: Daley is Leon's partner and very likely the next highest ranking field officer after Leon, although it's never mentioned in the series. He replaced Leon's old partner, Jeena Malso, who is introduced in theAD Police Files anime. Daley happens to have the perfect personality to offset Leon's - patient, observant, and soft-spoken. That's not to say that Daley doesn't have a sense of humor, since his lines, IMHO, are some of the funniest in the series. Nor does it mean that Daley doesn't have a temper, as we see in Scoop Chase.
Daley is also a completely out-of-the-closet homosexual, and he is constantly hitting on Leon. Not that he expects anything, but rather it's a long-standing joke which they both enjoy.
Seiyuu: Horiuchi Kenyuu
Character Development
- In Born to Kill, Daley is revealed as a homosexual, a major statement for an anime. He also appears to have an excellent sense of humor.
- Daley is upset by Todo's insistance on getting a statement "as a formality" in Moonlight Rambler and, unlike his usual self, is actually upset and flustered by the situation.
- Daley, apparently recently promoted, again loses control in Scoop Chase, but this time it's more than just frustration, it's him losing control of his temper completely.
Chief Todo: A life-long cop, Chief Todo is perpetually stressed out by having to ride the fence between his driven cops, like Leon, and the brass upstairs, most of who are politicians or have been outright purchased by Genom and other special interests. He has a tendency to shout a lot at Leon, who is prone to shouting back, but Chief Todo knows that his men are outgunned and outclassed by the new combat Boomers appearing on the streets of MegaTokyo and is willing to cover for, and even help on occasion, those officers who take the law into thier hands on occasion.
Chief Todo is also Lisa Vanette's uncle.
Seiyuu: Satou Shouji
Character Development
- Chief Todo appears in Born to Kill to be an insufferable boot-licker who takes the orders that his superiors hand down without asking the question "Why are these BS orders coming down from on high and hindering my officers' abilities to investigate crimes?"
- In Moonlight Rambler, Todo has changed a little bit. He seems to be willing to give Leon a little more slack than he did originally, and even to help him when the shit seems about to hit the fan. Todo also appears as bitter and resentful about the politics he has to deal with.
- Todo puts Leon and Daley on paid leave in Double Vision as a way to let them keep on a case that his corrupt superiors have ordered closed, showing again that he's not a bad guy.

Quincy: Quincy is the founder and current Chairman of Genom. As such, he is one of the most powerful people on, or off, the planet. He is also most directly responsible for Genom's current world dominion, as he was the one who forced Genom into the various key industries which have allowed Genom to control the various new technologies as they were developed, most especially Boomers. His background is a complete blank, and even Sylia doesn't know it, but his personality can be easily deduced from the series. Quincy is totally confident at all times (with one or two possible exceptions in Red Eye's and Double Vision), egotistical perhaps, and pragmatic beyond the point of brutality. If it threatens Genom, it needs to be removed in some manner, preferably through controlling it. He is rarely seen in public, and his many Boomer android doubles have led to speculation on whether Quincy is truly alive, or whether he has downloaded his consciousness somehow into the Genom computer system.
Seiyuu: Kawakubo Kiyoshi
Brian J. Mason: Second in command at Genom, Mason was the individual responsible for the assassination of Dr. Stingray, the development of combat Boomers, and the acquisition of the laser sattelite control device. He was also the driving force behind the development of the BU-99CX SuperBoomer. However, all of the activities Mason is responsible for in the series are aimed at his replacing Quincy as Chairman. Unfortunately for him, the Knight Sabers got in his way so often that he became obsessed with them, and the two finally clash directly in Blow Up.
Mason is a highly ambitious man who truly follows the old, Machiavelli axiom: "The ends justify the means." He is willing to do anything so long as his power is increased, his chances of replacing Quincy enhanced, and Genom's control over the world maintained. Add the patience of a tree to these qualities, and Mason become a very dangerous man.
Seiyuu: Ikeda Shuuichi
Kate Madigan: A relatively minor character in the Red Eye's, she is the Genom VP of Information, making her responsible for information and data processing. This also makes her essentially Genom's highest spy, a woman who was personally responsible for more than few conspiracies and who is trusted to know everything about Genom, including the OverMind System, or OMS, a super-powerful AI which Largo wanted control over. Madigan is ruthless and meticulous, and has no problem killing people personally if thier connection to Genom is in danger of being revealed.
Seiyuu: Tokano Urara
Dr. Miriam Yoshida: A pretty bright scientist, Miriam was continually bothered by his boss, who took credit for all Miriam's Boomer developments, and by the dead-end job he was in at Ebisu Mechatronics, a Genom subsidiary responsible for manufacturing construction Boomers. Eventually, this pushed Miriam over the edge, and he became obsessed with destroying the Knight Sabers as a way of making his name known to Quincy, who would theoretically reach down and pull Quincy out of his old job and into a new, interesting one. His plan was to develop Boomers specifically designed to counter the various abilities of the Knight Sabers. Luckily for the Knight Sabers, Miriam had analyzed the old hardsuits just before they replaced them, or they might actually had some problems beating the Boomers. As it was, Nene only narrowly defeated the Boomer Miriam designed to take control of the AD Police building in Scoop Chase.
Seiyuu: Futamata Issei

Largo: Largo is a SuperBoomer of tremendous strength, power, and intelligence. He has much of the knowledge of Brian J. Mason, including the many and varied secrets of Genom. One of those secrets, that the head of the GPCC was secretly developing weapons for sale to the Communists, enabled Largo to gain control of the GPCC, and ultimately to confront Quincy himself.
Largo's Boomer body houses an AI of such complexity that it's essentially human, and capable of storing the mind of Mason. However, Largo was a very different person, and in many aspects a lot more evil than Mason could dream of being. Largo is meglomaniacal and sadistic, and his audacity even surprised the usually unflappable Quincy. While he views himself as a messia to the "new race" of Boomers, and wanted the OMS to help in the creation of the "new race", he was willing to kill anyone, including his fellow Boomers, just to satisfy his own need for power.
Largo is not a simple Boomer, and his armored body shows that just as much as his mind. Just like a BU-55C combat boomer, Largo can pack his body into a human form. However, his body really doesn't change much in size or shape from packed to unpacked. He has thrusters in his back which could enable him to fly were he to choose to. He is armed with the standard Boomer mouth laser, but instead of a heat cannon, he has a gravity attack which is extremely devastating. But the really dangerous attack is his ability to control the USSD orbital laser sattelites.
Seiyuu: Sogabe Kazuyoshi
Sylvie: Sylvie is a 33-S Sexaroid Boomer who was one of the concubines to the head of the Genaros space station before she and Anri escaped to MegaTokyo. The shuttle she stole also happened to contain the prototype of a new type of battlemover, the D.D Battlemover. Unfortunately, in the escape, Anri was injured, and Sylvie had to use the D.D. to steal the human blood necessary to keep Anri alive.
Sylvie met Priss after arriving in MegaTokyo, and the two became good friends. Almost everyone liked Sylvie, owing at least as much to her personality as to her manufactured Sexaroid beauty. She is brave, open, and extremely strong willed.
Seiyuu: Takamori Yoshino
Anri: Anri is also a Sexaroid Boomer, but she was designed more to be cute and adorable than to be beautiful. In the escape with Sylvie, she was injured and unable to maintain the artificial blood supply necessary to keep her alive, so she was forced to live through daily "injections" of human blood. After Sylvie was killed, Anri was sucked into Largo's plans, and her quest for vengeance on the person who had killed Sylvie (she didn't realize it was Priss) drove her to stay with Largo until his deceptions wer finally revealed.
Seiyuu: Mizutani Yuko

Reika Chang/Vision: Reika is a member of the Hou Bang, a Chinese secret society which her father and mother ran until they were killed by the Gulf and Bradley Corporation. Reika, not caring for the underworld, pursued a life of singing and used the Hou Bang's resources to keep her real name a secret, adopting the name "Vision" instead. Her singing career went extremely well, until she disappeared after the murder of her little sister, Irene. At that point, she declared a vendetta against Genom and became a member of the Hou Bang because they could provide her with the necessary resources to avenge her sister's death.
Reika is very emotional and prone to rapid mood shifts. However, those very emotions are a large part of what made her music so loved by the people. She is beautiful, and while she's found that she can't kill someone, her background make her dangerous both in and out of her battlemover.
Seiyuu: Hashimoto Maiko
Kou: Kou is a minor character in Double Vision who serves as protector and primary confidante of Reika. He has been a member of the Hou Bang his entire life, and could be in love with Reika. He is very dangerous and cool in a fight, and is an accomplished martial artist.Seiyuu: Matsumoto Yasunori
Irene Chang: Reika's younger sister Irene is the first of the Chang family encountered, in Born to Kill. Since Irene never wanted to be a part of the Hou Bang, so she went to MegaTokyo and changed her name to Can.She met Linna at Phoebe's, the aerobics studio, and the two became good friends. Her fiancee was an engineer working on Mason's SuperBoomer project, and she swore to expose Mason after her fiancee was murdered.
Seiyuu: Itou Miki
J.B. Gibson: An ex-auto racer, Gibson bought his Griffon as a hobby car, and was taking his girlfriend Naomi out for a ride when they were attacked by a bike gang. The attack wounded Gibson, but put Naomi into severe shock and withdrawl. Gibson's normal sense of honor was overwhelmed by grief, and he began converting the Griffon, with the help of his friend Dr. Raven, into a fast, dangerous, vengeful monster.
Seiyuu: Shiozawa Kaneto
Naomi Anderson: Gibson's girlfriend, Naomi is very much in love with Gibson. When she and Gibson were attacked, her mind retreated from the horrible experience into a semi-comatose state, which drove Gibson to revenge. She didn't recover from the experience until Gibson had put both of them into a similar situation.
Seiyuu: Shou Mayumi
Lisa Vanette: Lisa is Chief Todo's neice, a high school senior, and an aspiring news photographer. When she first arrived in MegaTokyo, she got a couple of pictures of the Knight Sabers, including one of Priss without her visor down. Priss was not amused, and she destroyed the camera. Lisa, also not amused, decided to dedicate her winter break to uncovering who the Knight Sabers are, and would have succeeded had she not become friends with Nene, who was supposed to be looking after her.
Lisa is bright, energetic, persistant, and impatient. She's not above taking extreme risks to get a story or a shot, and with the story about the Knight Sabers saving the AD Police, she will likely be able to write her own ticket to the MegaTokyo newspapers.
Seiyuu: Hisakawa Aya
Dr. Richard McLaren: Last, and quite possibly least, Dr. McLaren is a scientist and engineer working for Gulf and Bradly corporation. He was the scientist in charge of creating the giant Boomer in Double Vision and was kidnapped by Reika Chang to be used as bait for Quincy. He is very talented, but immoral and a coward. He is also serving a long jail term for breaking the "No Second Generation Boomers" laws.
Seiyuu: Sawaki Ikuya
